Please review the peer editing guidelines and let me know in class if you have questions. If you would like to use other formats for peer review, such as face-to-face, Skype, tutoring center, let me know this Thursday (February 14th). There are other options for you to do peer editing, you have alternatives, just let me know which one suits your needs.
In my opinion Goog Docs seems to work and it gives me a chance to give you feedback too. :) I started to use the "insert comment option" to give specific feedback, here is a tutorial if you missed the class demonstration. Here are the steps to follow if you decide to use Google Docs:
1. create one COMMON document (this will contain all three essays from your peers).
2. email your peers and include me too (if you want feedback from me, otherwise you can just email me the link by deadline). Please share with me the document ONCE (not three times).
3. provide as much detail as possible to BOTH of your peers,
4. submit assignment by deadline.
Remember, peer editing benefits you ALL without receiving a grade from me. You should work toward a FINAL draft, the more you collaborate with each other, the faster you will improve.
Either option you choose, you will still need to submit peer edits (via Google Docs, email or give me the hard copy in class on Monday so that you meet the deadline and get full credit). In order to get full-credit (10 points) for peer editing, you have to provide feedback on both of your peer's essays and meet the deadline. You can find more details about this in the syllabus and on the blog. Please let me know about any issues regarding peer editing in class this week.
On Thursday, let's talk about what areas can we improve and how can we hone more our essay writing skills. I look forward to seeing you all in class.

Art does not improve critical thinking and analysis skill
When people talk about the functions performed by art the opinions of the people are different. Some believe that art stimulates the mind. It improves critical thinking and analysis skills. While other people think that art is just for decoration and that has no other function in cognitive development of man, only to beautify the space or environment. Others think that art satisfies both functions perfectly, because a work of art can stimulate the mind as well serve as a decorative piece.
People, who think that art develops critical thinking, believe that when a person looks at a work of art has to think about what the author wants to transmit with these colors, with these forms. What ideas did the author? What did he want to express? What was the reason to do that work of art? What was thinking the author when make the artwork? Is this a reality or a dream? They explain that when we give answers to all these questions stimulate our minds, our imagination and we increase our critical thinking.
Also, these people say that they have conducted researches in schools; they have shown that power art to curiosity, logical reasoning, sensitivity, spontaneity, imagination and creativity in children. They explain that the child who develops artistic activities is a creative person. He is one who is able to solve problems by using the imagination. Art activities are as well associated with the originality, with the talent and genius. A good example was Leonardo da Vinci, who after to start his career in the arts, he was able to make the first drafts of a helicopter, a submarine and an automobile, for which he showed his originality and genius.
On the other hand, there are other people who do not believe that art stimulates critical thinking, they say: the activities that revolve around the truth are sciences and they are that stimulate critical thinking because they are seeking the truth through creativity. The art and aesthetic are activities that resolve around the beauty. Therefore, the art just fulfills a decorative function.
However, both positions are very interesting and complementary, I think that art contributes to the development of critical thinking, but it is also an activity that revolves around beauty, because through it allows us to enjoy the prettiness. In conclusion, I believe that art stimulates the imagination, creativity and logical reasoning of man, besides decorate or embellish their environments and make our life more pleasant.
